  • Play a sport (too much like game)? Play God? Where I'm from, pretending to be asleep was called "playing possum."

  • What a great list! I've always loved the word "placket." And what about petticoat and crinoline and cummerbund . . . nylon, polyester, rayon (not nearly as gauche as they used to be) . . . taffeta, organdy . . . maybe twill and herringbone and houndstooth (to go with tattersall)? . . . mackintosh, overcoat, slicker . . . ? (I'm resisting the temptation to grab my Roget's!)

  • Don't forget "Shipoopi," from the Music Man — a song *and* a dance.

  • I'm new to the site — and I'm loving the stuffie lists! How about: sides . . . partners . . . places . . . heart (though that's with "of") . . . diaper . . . teams . . . address . . . venue . . .

Hmmm. My inner linguist is intrigued by the number of plurals on the list. How is it that one person (singular) changes teams or changes sides (plural) -- even if no one else is involved? Something to research later.

  • Great list! What about: sideways . . . ghost . . . cars . . . halloween . . . ? The trilogy by Kielowski, which I've never watched: red . . . white . . . blue. (The French title for "Red" -- "Rouge" -- also works.) And, very apropos: wordplay.
