Looking at etymonline , "Used for 'Low Germany and the Netherlands'", which describes a number of different countries. The WordNet definition makes sense this time.

Drop "any" and it's right.
Bizarre. Even WeirdNet can't be that bad. Sounds like a glitch of some sort.
WeirdNet again: 'any one of the countries occupying the European continent'. I'm getting very lost.
