  • Generation Y's method of protest. *sigh*

  • *headdesk*

  • It's a bit harsh to pin this just on Gen. Y. They may have invented it but I see Facebook users of every stripe signing up to fatuous causes and "bazillion people against everything" groups.

    February 5, 2009

  • Hahahahah.

    February 6, 2009

  • Speaking as a different stripe: I'm signed up for that group. It amuses me and mocks the whole idea of signing up for Facebook groups. I don't consider it activism in the least to join a goofy Facebook group such as that.

Full disclosure: I've also joined the group "Hallo. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" and "International Talk Like A Pirate Day." I've also become a fan of Aretha Franklin's Inaugural Hat.

    February 6, 2009

  • No, I've joined that group too rt. I was referring to the groups mocked by that one - you know, the "1,000,000 people against violent crime" etc.

    February 6, 2009

  • Ah. Gotcha. :-)

    February 6, 2009

  • Now, 1,000,000 people *for* violent crime would be interesting. Scary, but interesting. (And do any of those groups ever actually recruit a million people?)

    February 8, 2009

  • "One Million Strong for Stephen Colbert" got to the million mark, 1,194,089, to be specific.
