Thanks for the tale of bearskin. I can't believe I'd never heard it before - it's a good one.
-
I don't see how it's a contradiction.
Repeated exposure has given me cutie sickness. -
Ha! :-) Good for you, plethora. I would, however, mention that I do have a great fondness for the word cuties when it appears in conjunction with the word Tofutti.
-
Your favorite word is rainbow and your least favorite word is cutie? Now that's a contradiction if I ever saw one.
-
pleth -- where are you????
-
-
She certainly does!
-
She lives!
-
Oh, that was you, 'nach? Thanks so much!
Well, there's a couple of collecting tins circling, one at work, one in my hometown, and I'm taking one to my old boarding house tomorrow. Also, my perpetually campaigning auntie is rustling up the people who would usually sponsor her, e.g. pretty much all of her cancer support group, everyone at the bank, every person who owns a cafe on the main street, and so on and so forth.
Short answer: There's money, it's just not entered online. -
Hi pleth:
Still only two sponsors? (I still don't know whether my pledge was in U.S. or Australian dollars). -
Thanks pleth. Everyone's ok for now. I appreciate you dropping in :-)
-
Click me!
I'm shamelessly pimpin' for sponsorship, yo! -
Plethora, glad to hear you're working. And now, you know what to do with one of my lists...
-
Heya pleth, what are you doing this year? Minding the gap, shackled to university or living happily ever after?
-
We miss you too!
-
Thanks everyone! <3
Dc, that is the coolest thing... evah.
*hugs Wordies* -
Congrats!
(From another 08er ^^) -
Congrats, pleth--it's official!
-
Yeah, congratulations!
THE END! -
This is so sweet, dontcry. I love it.
-
Pleth - visit my Flickr site for a graduation message from the porch!

Yes. Yes, we can.
-
Then ... we can start throwing cake?!
-
No :'(
Technically I've already graduated, anyway. -
Ceremony! Will you have a Harry Potter Gown and a Funny Flat Hat?
-
I did indeed, Pro. The entire highschool experience is not over, just the exams. The rest is just ceremony and tradition, really.
-
Great, plethora! But wait -- didn't you say December 8?
-
:-) Sounds great. Go get 'em!
-
The plan at the moment is to take a year off studying, find a job, and earn enough money to live on, and perhaps save some to help me get through uni in 2010.
-
Never! Whahaha!
What will you do next year, plethora? Any plans? -
*blush* Why thank you. I do enjoy a good White Stripes song in my spare time.
-
you are a white striped gem.
-
Yes. I have, finally. Only 116 days until it all starts over again. 9 more days after that, and I've finished high school!
-
Hey! So you're done with your exam! (see dontcry's profile)
-
I am ever so honoured, gentlemen.
I may have nothing to do with deathly vs. deadly now, Pro, but rest assured that I will involve myself. Anything to help me not study. -
We have now extended plethora's home page by about 10 cm. That's value.
-
I have a problem in understanding what's wrong in deadly. But we can move to that page, poor plethora has nothing to do with that :-) Good luck for your exam!
-
I don't hate the listers, Pro. I'm just sick of the word. :-)
-
Do you mean deathly, 'gus?
-
psssshhh!
-
Nor a deadly* white profile page, now.
*As a response to bilby. ;-) -
I have no shame.
-
What do you have against white, Pro? Does it remind you of sleep?
-
Just kidding, of course. I just noticed your profile page was still white.
-
We have evidence you were among the first Wordies to have added shadenfreude. Now tell reesetee.

I've always loved fairy tales, particularly the original, more gory versions. My favourite part of my final year of high school was studying them in German (with special emphasis on the Grimms, of course). My favourite is bearskin.

Strangely enough, the thing that struck me most about the pictures of Haile Homestead was the fact that the date was written as "nineteen three". These days, in most natural speech at least, it'd be more likely to be "nineteen oh three". Makes me wonder when that would have changed.
I found it noteworthy. Just me?

plethora commented on the word marmite
On the topic of the Vegemite and peanut butter combination: it was common practice at boarding school to have two pieces of toast for breakfast - one with peanut butter and one with Vegemite. The transition between the slices often results in a bit of flavour mixing.
I don't recommend it.

It probably is a cache problem, dc. In IE, try going to tools >> internet options. Then, hit "delete", then the top button that says "delete files". That should clear your temporary internet files and hopefully your problem will be fixed :)
