  • You will join my band. You will play the doubleneck guitar and you will enjoy the plethora of Rush songs - RUSH SONGS R U S H S O N G S!

I'm thinking a Rush cover band, called "Hurry" or something. You in?

  • If there's a svengali already in place, then count me in!

You can't achieve anything in music - or for that matter in life - if you don't have a svengali.

  • Hey yarb--I hear another band is forming. Would you like to join? This time I think thtownse is going to play the role of the svengali.

  • Rush, Canada's finest! It doesn't get much better than "The Trees"!

    October 16, 2010

  • Sorry, thtownse. That's a little trick I sometimes like to play on Rush fans. It only works because they are always strangely respectful and earnest--it usually takes a full minute before they tell me I'm full of crap. I'll nod along with them as they work through the process, because, you know, there might be that one song (uh-huh) on "Fly By Night" (yeah) that might have something.... (This is usually when I stop nodding my head and just start singing "Come sail away with meeeeeeee, lads.")

I'm usually a very nice person, but wow--some of the disgusted looks I get are just priceless.

    Edit: Especially from guitar players.

  • No, that was Styx (Come Sail Away, right?). Rush's Xanadu is just yet another rock ditty that draws on classic literature to create a morality play analyzing the balance we must all strive between our reckless desires and the inevitable, disastrous yet unforeseeable consequences of going too far in our quest for immortality. Really now I think about it, not too different from O N-J's "Xanadu"?

    October 16, 2010

  • Is Rush the band that did that song about the flying saucer?

    October 15, 2010

  • No dude, it's based on an awesome Rush song.

    October 15, 2010

  • It's not based on the colour of Olivia Newton-John's leotard? *worried*

    October 15, 2010

  • I see xanadu appearing in color lists, but none of the definitions describe a color. Apparently it is a greenish-grey color named after the leaves of the Xanadu cultivar of Philodendron. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xanadu_(colour)

  • Just saw this movie the other week, for the first time since I was 10, when I saw it in the theater. It basically sucks, but not nearly as badly as I thought it would. And Gene Kelly, he still had it, in spades -- it's worth watching, just to see him dance a bit.
