  • ?!

  • This can't possibly be referring to The Yarbness himself, only an example of a phrasing that uses His Yarbness's name in everyday conversation (e.g. with one's kid). Taking the name in vain, though, it does appear...

    April 27, 2009

  • My brain must have atrophied during the night because I still don't geddit. With one's kid? Wot'm I missing?

    April 27, 2009

  • Well, I mean if one's kid (spouse, or friend, or anyone for that matter) were being a little shit. I'm just guessing, I didn't actually invent it.

    April 27, 2009

  • AH! Fiat lux.

    April 27, 2009

  • See what I get for trying to protect the Yarbster's possibly delicate ego?

That's the last time I try to bring some lux to your Fiat. Next time, I'm bringing umbrage and I will throw down. *

    * not really.

    April 28, 2009

  • What are you talking about, you loony?

    April 28, 2009

  • Umbrage! I take umbrage!

    Uhh... nuthin'.

    April 28, 2009

  • maybe this is just plebeian misunderstanding, but I thought "The Whole Nine Yarbs" was a free-for-all punnatorium on the word "yarb".

    April 28, 2009

  • No no, you are in the right! It was I who was being dense.

    April 28, 2009

  • dense yarbiage

    hee hee

    April 28, 2009

  • I really don't get this. Do I want to?

    April 28, 2009

  • It is a pun on the phrase "you're being a little shit."

madmouth, this was my feeble attempt to stir up one of those conversations that in months to come will brighten everyone's days.

    April 28, 2009

  • Oh.

    (No, then).

    April 28, 2009

  • C_b, I take umbrage at the feebleness of your attempt!

    I laughed.

    April 28, 2009

  • My point, and I did at one time have one, even though (to paraphrase Verna in "Miller's Crossing") it was small and feeble and I can't remember the last time I used it, was that YARB himself is not being a little shit, but that the name of His Yarbness, in this phrase, is used in vain.

    *sweating from the effort*

*leaves work to go lie down*

*thinks of something else to say and comes back*

Actually, this is an excellent phrase to use when attempting to induce Wordizens to fake umbrage. Is there a verb for purposely provoking a fake-umbrage-taking marathon? Why not?

    April 28, 2009

  • This conversation is yarbaric!

    Yarbeing just awful!

    That's all I got.
