About

A list of surreal films (full length, any genre) that take the character *on a ride through strange worlds* of the imagination.

Taking them on a journey through their dreams (or nightmares) like 'Time Bandits' or 'Labyrinth'.

Alternatively, you can include strictly everything is not as it seems movies like 'The Sixth Sense' and 'The Illusionist' or even drug related excursions like 'Fear and Loathing' where everything is truly not as it seems!

The perfect blend of the two are films like 'The Wizard of Oz', 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Donnie Darko', or 'Mulholland Drive' where the dream world and the real world have things in common, where objects and people converge between the two.

Another type would be a visual barrage of images that tells a story with little or no words like 'Color of Pomegranates' or 'Koyaanisqatsi'.

    I was sitting next to the projectionist when I saw it. There's a scene where the withering gaze of one of the characters seems to melt the celluloid itself--I think I would have reacted differently to it if I'd just watched it on video.

    ahhhh yes, ru .. i do remember it now (after reading eggbert's review). it is quite brilliant in that she has suffered from some form of identity crisis / or perhaps a spiritual enlightenment? I must watch it again soon now. thanks again!
