  • (The habit of biting off the ends of the hairs of the beard or mustache.)

Why just the beard or moustache? What about the hair on one's head?

  • Is 'biting' figurative language? How do you bite off the end of a mustache? Unless it's very long, of course.

  • I was wondering the same thing, possibleunderscore. How is this done?

By the way, my definition came from the Wordnik definitions page.

  • According to Wikipedia, trichophagia is the '...compulsive eating of hair. Most often, long hair is masticated (chewed) while still attached to the head and then swallowed.'

So I guess that pretty rules out mustaches and cropped hair.

  • What is the name for someone who eats others' hair?

  • Allotrichophagic? Or just weirdo?

    June 8, 2010

  • Weirdo does have an economy of letters over "alltricophage" or "allotrichophagic"; however weirdo completely lacks the virtues of specificity and precision that the former possess.
