reesetee I don't agree with the sentiment either, but I assumed you were collecting, as you say, "fairly famous" quotations of all stripes. Still, it's your list! And a nifty one at that. :-) Nov 5, 2008
chained_bear Thanks RT. I added Hesse's, but I've seen Emerson's and a similar one by Disraeli, and I just hate the attitude espoused in it. Of course that's no reason for excluding the fairly famous quotation from the list... but it makes me mad that some people (admittedly very few) still believe the "great man" theory of history. Of course that was the dominant view in the nineteenth century, so I can forgive Emerson and Disraeli for it... but ... *skeeves*. I'll get over it, I'm sure. Nov 5, 2008
