For example, "en" is a prefix and a word (measurement); therefore, "enable" and "encompass" are invalid because, well, that's just too easy. <br /> <br />Examples: <br />• "pinion" breaks down into "pin" + "ion"; however, a pinion is not a small, pointed fastener of charged subatomic particles. <br />• "lithe" is valid because, in keeping with the definition of a compound, it is a stem. In contrast, "blinded" is not valid due to its inflectional affix. <br /> <br />Notes: <br />• I did not know similar lists existed until a dozen words in! Luckily, mine is unique in that any one can contribute.
