You know what that sound means! The game is now over! Congratulations to all our contestants!

I mean that. Stop playing.

Our judges have just informed me of the final scores. Before we go any further, I'd just like to assure all of you that your anonymity is safe on the internet. You guys don't know each other at all.

It seems we have a three-way tie! Each with a grand total of 3 out of a possible 8 correct matches, will reesetee, rocksinmypockets, and skipvia please step forward? All of you were pretty pathetic at this game, but you did better than anyone else. Textual prizes have been awarded on your profiles.

We have some lovely parting gifts for the rest of you!

So what were the answers?

chained_bear is obnoxious. Hey, her words, not mine. 1 player out of 7 guessed it.
jennarenn is sunny. Well duh. 5 players out of 7 guessed it, and one of the wrong guesses was her own fried goodness.
John is abecedarian and 4 out of 7 players had him figured out.
reesetee is intense and nobody guessed it, but 4 out of 7 players said caffeinated.
rocksinmypockets is tenacious. Nobody guessed it either but we'll let it slide because she's a noob.
seanahan is rapprochemental. Only 1 player out of 7 guessed it, and he didn't even believe it himself!
skipvia is dissociative. No two people guessed the same word for him, but one person did get it right.
uselessness is sophistical and 2 out of 7 figured it out. Which disappoints him greatly.

The red herrings were caffeinated, moist, and winsome. Haha!

Additional thoughts:
John joined in late, and I was sure that careful observers would be able to identify his word as the "new one" in the list. So I blamed c_b for "forgetting" him and the diversion worked perfectly. That is, until John blew his own cover and fessed up. Didn't seem to make a difference in the long run, though.

If anybody wants to play other games like this in the future, let me know. We can do the same thing and pick different adjectives, or maybe try a variation. It's a good argument for a private messaging feature, so you can send me your secret words without using e-mail or Facebook. Just a thought, for those who might be opposed to the idea.
