ruzuzu Are you familiar with the "humour, wit, satire, sarcasm, invective, irony, cynicism, the sardonic" table in H.W. Fowler's Modern English Usage? It's hilarious--he tells us that the audience for cynicism is "The respectable," while the motive or aim of the sardonic is "Self-relief." Jun 29, 2010
