  • (v): to hoard something or act selfishly. I.e. "Don't bogart that joint, friend." Originated in 60's drug culture as a way to describe someone who was "hogging" a joint - which is traditionally supposed to be passed around. Apparently arose from the way that Humphrey Bogart allows a cigarette to dangle from his lips.

  • "Don`t bogart this joint my friend

    pass it over to me"

Song sung by the two bikers (Hopper and Nicholson) in the night at the campfire.

"to bogart the joint" means: keep it between the lips like Bogart his cigaret, and not pass it.
