fbharjo Rail Handcars have also been called a "go-devil" Jan 15, 2011
yarb I keep wanting to call it a push-me-pull-you, but I realise that was a quadrupedal creature with two front-ends from Alice, or Dr. Doolittle, or maybe Gulliver's Travels, or something like that. Jan 15, 2011
ruzuzu Well, I suppose you could call it a Kalamazoo. Jan 15, 2011
yarb Bah. A crummy name for a supercool means of conveyance. Jan 14, 2011
ruzuzu handcar Jan 14, 2011
yarb What's the word for that railcar powered by two people pushing on a see-saw? Jan 14, 2011
reesetee I thought mankind was already being forced into illiteracy. ;-> Nov 26, 2007
uselessness In the future, merely reading about viruses will infect you with them through the Power Of The Internet. The United States government will lead the charge against Google for its contribution to "digital biological warfare." Mankind will be forced into illiteracy to prevent the spread of the epidemic. It has been prophesied. Nov 26, 2007
chained_bear We should celebrate HPV as something that brings us together?! Ha ha ha!! Love it, John.
By "permanent," I'm assuming you mean that you never really get rid of it. I guess that's true of all viruses--the symptoms run their course, but you'll always have traces of the virus in your blood. Although I'm not a doctor either and don't even play one on Wordie. :)
All the more reason to search for "human-powered vehicles" instead. Nov 26, 2007
bilby Sorry, no offence intended. Nov 26, 2007
john Hm, bilb, thin ice there..
I'm not a doctor, damnit, but isn't HPV (virus, not bicycle) basically permanent? And very common, in fact part of our shared heritage? I think we should celebrate it as something that brings us together, rather than let it drive us apart. Nov 26, 2007
chained_bear Beg your pardon? Doing a search means I'm ill?
Actually, I found out that particular virus is fairly widespread, and often people exhibit no symptoms. So... I wish you a speedy recovery as well. ;) Nov 26, 2007
bilby I wish you a speedy recovery. Nov 26, 2007
chained_bear If I do a search on HPV it brings up Human Papilloma Virus. I guess that's a strange contraption, but maybe not what you had in mind, bilby...? ;) Nov 26, 2007
reesetee Ha! Good idea for a list. :-) Nov 25, 2007
bilby If you do a search on HPV you'll find all kinds of quite strange contraptions. A lot of them are so idiosyncratic they go by brand names rather than generic names. Nothing (yet) really beats the bicycle but there's a lot of potential. Nov 24, 2007
sonofgroucho Who would have thought that there were so many? Nov 24, 2007
