samuraizack Whoa! I am such a Harry Potter geek, it's not even funny. There's not a single spell, charm, curse, etc. I don't know. I feel like such a loser for that, but it's cool. Also, in lieu of Azerath, Metrion, Zinthoss!, you could have Necronam, Hezberek, Mortyx!, or Alduron Enlenthranell Losolonarisnor!, or finally, Hezberek Etmoriney Gost Wenthin Verbus Nex Ind Obrium Bispendrule Paran Sic Cortis Rex! I would say more, but I don't want to be more verbose than I already am, so later... May 23, 2007
abraxaszugzwang Thanks najp. And I'm glad you like the list! Feb 26, 2007
notanotherjazzpoet And just so I'm not gushing here's another from Macbeth: "Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Hover through the fog and filthy air." Feb 26, 2007
notanotherjazzpoet I am in love with this list. From the title (Bruce Campbell huzzah!) to the words, er phrases I guess, to the comments. Though I admit to reading HP because I 1)wanted to see what all the fuss was about and 2)wanted to make sure I didn't lose students by having no idea about them (seriously, HP's been used in three of my 24 college freshmen students' papers so far). I also admit to reading LotR at least once a year. I started them in 7th grade then gave up, but picked them up again when the hype about the movies began. Feb 26, 2007
abraxaszugzwang That's my problem with LotR. I read the Hobbit and the first two Rings books and now I feel I have to read the third. It has been 5 years :) Feb 26, 2007
jennarenn I slogged through the Hobbit, but came to the same conclusion. The modern reader (me) is too used to instant gratification.
(It's no shame not to have read HP. Once you start, you feel compelled to read all seven. Kinda like the Wheel of Time books. I am simply *not* going to try to keep up with all of those characters.) Feb 25, 2007
abraxaszugzwang The Lord of the Rings is simply not great story-telling, in my opinion. The Fellowship is a painful read. It's just endless walking. Feb 21, 2007
chained_bear There's a guy I work with who has neither read nor seen any of The Lord of the Rings. I found that odd, but then sympathized with him rather than yelling, "What?!" like everyone else. Feb 21, 2007
seanahan I also have never read a word of Harry Potter. Feb 21, 2007
reesetee Make that three of us! I've never read a word(ie) of Harry Potter either (although I've seen a couple of the movies, but I'm told it's just not the same). Feb 21, 2007
abraxaszugzwang Thanks chained :) Feb 21, 2007
chained_bear I love this list.
I have never read Harry Potter either--you are not alone, AZ!
Don't forget bippity boppity boo! Feb 21, 2007
abraxaszugzwang Uselessness, remind me to get right on that :)
Jennarenn, my name is AbraxasZugzwang and I feel like the only living soul who hasn't read Harry Potter. I'll have to take your wordie for it.
Valse, you know what my friend? I watched that show all the time and I remember that particular incantation. Added! Feb 21, 2007
valse I remember in the cartoon Doug, Doug would say "Veni, vidi, vici!" whilst doing some magic trick or another. Which sounded enough like an incantation before I learned what it meant. Oh the web of lies that kids' shows spin. ...I'm sorry that wasn't a contribution. Feb 21, 2007
jennarenn alohamora, stupefy, expecto patronum, expelliarmus Feb 20, 2007
kad legendary chicken fairy, make my dreams come true! Feb 20, 2007
uselessness Shazam, my friend? Aren't you looking for SHAZAM!? ;-) Feb 20, 2007
