Hey, I'm the one who started the Reesetee list (and deserved what I got in return), so I'm certainly not the one to point fingers on the matter. Just expressing my general view, if anyone cares. :)

Prolagus In general, I am looking for those comments where people write about memories from the past... not about stuff like sexual orientation, marriage, or such.
This might be the right place to talk about that: if there's any link that you prefer not to have in that list, just let me know (private message on any of my "also on" accounts). Although it would be on Wordie anyway, so you are sharing it anyway... Dec 22, 2008

chained_bear I would prefer not offering personal details about myself. There's plenty of stuff scattered all over this site that would give a stalker a nice scavenger hunt, were he/she so inclined, but that's not the same thing as offering up a bio or turning the conversation to oneself. Like others here, I love that this site is more about the words than about the people on it (certain lists notwithstanding, reesetee...).

That said, I will simply confirm your suspicion, Yaybob, that there are folks from all over the world who are regular contributors. This is another aspect of the community here that I value very highly. :) Dec 22, 2008

As for getting more personal, I do like knowing more about people, though at a remove (in most cases), too. I particularly like those users who have a nicely-sized "about" blurb on their profiles.

whichbe It would be cute to know everyone's location for that international feel, but it might also be a little creepy. Some people like privacy; I don't blame them.

The list of contributors was generated entirely from people who've contributed to CHALLENGES thus far. If I were make a crude (and it would have to be) list of most-frequent "community members" on Wordie.org, it would be a bit different.

I sort of like the way Wordie has many of us fairly removed. I pick up bits of an idea about people, but discussions are more about the words than relating stories and profiles. For example, I know *nothing* about fbharjo whatsoever, they might be an A.I. program written in perl, yet I totally appreciate their word lists.

Do folks prefer personal stories of each other? If so, I wonder how Wordie could better facilitate that. Dec 20, 2008

yaybob Well this was unexpected. And flattering. Thank you for including me. As I indicated once before, I'm used to Internet communities being pretty icy and aggressive (as in aggression). This group has been gentle and genteel. Which gives me a sense (please forgive me, proud Americans, but ours is a brutish, "bring 'em on" culture) that the mix is very international.

Now I have a list of the names with which I am most familiar to begin accreteing attributes. Somebody co-authored a book on statistical methods of pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamics (yikes!), but I didn't record it and now that's lost until the next time I stumble upon it (this is the thinking out loud that I mentioned). It's like a game of Clue. Colonel Mustard is in the study. I thought that I could place sionnach in the bay area in Northern California, but then suddenly Spain seemed more right. Am I conflating attributes of two different people? The list of WORDOs will put an end to the speculating. Prolagus is Italian - or else that guy in the movie Breaking Away.
