- Guise, Second Duke. Title of François de Lorraine. 1519-1563. French general and politician who suppressed the Huguenots.
- Guise, Third Duke. Title of Henri de Lorraine. 1550-1588. French military leader who helped plan the massacre of Huguenots on Saint Bartholomew's Day, 1572. His designs on the throne led to his assassination by order of Henry III.
