Etymologies
- From Middle English dusshen, duschen, perhaps from Old English dwǣscan ("to put out, extinguish, destroy") (see adwesch). Cognate with Middle Low German duschen, German dialectal duschen ("to beat, butt"). Compare also West Frisian dúste ("to push, thrust, poke"), (Wiktionary)
