  1. Pertaining to a toph or tophus; gritty; sandy: as, a tophaceous concretion. It [milk] differs from a vegetable emulsion by coagnlating into a curdy mass with acids, which chyle and vegetable emulsions will not. Acids mixed with them precipitate a tophaceous chalky matter, but not a chyly substance. Arbuthnot, Aliments, IV. ii. § 4.
