qroqqa I can only see two (relevant) vowels in that list, that of of 'strut'/'bloody' and that of 'nurse'/'vermin'/'virginal'; the two are however completely different in my accent. (And I'd use the term 'short u' to mean the vowel in 'foot' myself.) Jun 8, 2009
