mollusque How about birdport? Feb 18, 2008
asativum New one on me -- thanks! Dec 8, 2007
chained_bear outport? I've been meaning to add it. Dec 8, 2007
asativum Most assuredly: Cheese-rolling, sword-dancing and mangold-wurzel-hurling go well together of an autumn weekend, especially if accompanied by ale-imbibing. Dec 8, 2007
reesetee Are they related to the Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rollers, do you think? Dec 6, 2007
bilby They're definitely brothers-in-lederhosen, and that's a start :-) Dec 6, 2007
sionnach I think someone should put the morris dancers in touch with the mangold hurlers . Something tells me they would get along swimmingly.
Though, when you get right down to it, who among us does not secretly share a fascination with ballistic root vegetables? Dec 6, 2007
chained_bear Oh Christ. Someone found the morris dancers.
;) Dec 6, 2007
reesetee Ha! Love it! I hope they go on tour. :-) Dec 5, 2007
asativum I stand corrected. I'm not convinced there are any hoverports out there, but I'll take it. As for sallyport, well, I was still on the fence until I used the Google and found, among other things, this page. I'm not quite sure what these gentlemen are doing, but they seem to be enjoying themselves, so in sallyport goes!

bilby Wiktionary: Noun
sallyport (plural sallyports)
1. An opening into or entry to a fortification, usually arched, to enable a sally; a postern.
I'm using it as the name of a frontier town in something I'm writing so I'm a bit protective of this word at the moment! Dec 5, 2007
mollusque A hoverport is for hovercraft. Regarding inclusion of port versus non-port ports, Wordie has a way of loosening up pedants, as you'll note on my profile. We remain pedants of course, but we broaden the scope of things about which we are pedantic. Dec 5, 2007
asativum Gosh, folks -- thanks for being so generous with your words. I'm taking 'em all except sallyport -- isn't that two words? -- and hoverport (not sure what one is).
I was going to nix jetport, seaport et al, on the theory that I wanted non-port ports, but then I realized I already had airport and heliport, and figured what the heck. Dec 5, 2007
bilby Sallyport.
