sionnach sarra: clearly you need more guilt and relics. ;) Nov 9, 2007
sarra hee. Have you seen my analogue? A less rich tradition, to be sure. Nov 9, 2007
reesetee I find that a lot of it is beautifully poetic, too. Oct 9, 2007
chained_bear Biblical language *is* powerful in some ways, not always because of the context. For one thing, it's usually archaic and/or esoteric, which makes it atypical in terms of everyday speech. And like other atypical speech, archaic and esoteric language certainly have the power to make everyone in the room stop talking when they hear it, if only to figure out if someone's pronouncing something correctly--or what the hell they meant.
Try using chasuble in everyday conversation, for example. Or calumny. Oct 9, 2007
kewpid That is an awfully relativist thing to say! Oct 9, 2007
seanahan Biblical language is only powerful because of the context it is typically given. Oct 9, 2007
reesetee Sionnach, this reminds me of all the words I used to think had only religious denotations. In fact, I think I made a list somewhere on Wordie. *rummaging* Oct 8, 2007
kewpid I love Biblical language. It is very powerful. Oct 8, 2007
