  • ruzuzu I think you're doing well already, but sometimes it's fun to look through lists by folks who've made many of them. You might start with the lists by (in no particular order) chained_bear, Prolagus, rolig, dontcry, bilby, actung, biocon, reesetee, hernesheir, sionnach, pterodactyl, uselessness, zeke, frindley, whichbe, jennarenn, kewpid, erinmckean, yarb, a, frogapplause, fbharjo, sonofgroucho, mollusque, leaden, skipvia, oroboros, vanishedone, and, of course, our john. Those users will lead you to the ones I know I've forgotten (it's 3:30 a.m.). Speaking of insomnia, there are also some words with lots of comments on them--comments that will lead to other comments by other users with other excellent lists. I'm quite fond of jean dimmock and the moro reflex. But, having said all that, I think the best thing to do is exactly what you're doing already. :-) Jan 15, 2012

  • deinonychus Of course every potential list is an existing list... But I try not to let that get to me, somehow I must be doing something original (sometimes).

    The links look interesting, in a way that might keep me busy all night. Which, at least at the moment, seems like a good thing.

    And about what interests me... Hard to say. I love getting lost on Wikipedia (and here too, but it's not as easy), jumping from word to word just because they look interesting, ending up somewhere unexpected. Jan 13, 2012

  • ruzuzu Sometimes we try to corral the funny ones in one spot. I can recommend chained_bear's "Conversations for the Ages," (http://www.wordnik.com/lists/conversations-for-the-ages) which has links to other lists by reesetee, Prolagus, and jennarenn.

    But there are lots of other amazing lists that are a bit more serious/scholarly--what interests you? One sure-fire way to find out about other lists is to start making your own list, then see which words have already been listed. (You might find that every potential list is an existing list, but it's still fun to make your own.) Jan 13, 2012
