ruzuzu I note the lovely calabazilla is here. You're fantastic, Moll. Dec 15, 2012
ruzuzu What a lovely list! Jan 20, 2012
mollusque Thanks, frogapplause, but I'm only adding single words names for melons. Nov 1, 2008
frogapplause What about a Canary Melon? I had a couple of tasty ones during the summer. Nov 1, 2008
mollusque Thanks, bilby! Added. Jun 2, 2008
bilby Not a glamorous name but winter melon/wintermelon belongs here. Jun 2, 2008
reesetee We have to teach the children, uselessness. :-P
I think I've seen champagne melons here, too. Sadly, though, no cabernet or pinot noir melons. Dec 21, 2007
uselessness c_b, did you just link to sprite? How subtle of you. Dec 21, 2007
sionnach Cool, bilby: with a guinness melon and a champagne melon, we could concoct a black and tan melon, an exotic hybrid with strong anti-Republican tendencies. Dec 21, 2007
chained_bear I had a sprite melon once. It was tasty too! Cute little thing, yellowish skin with rather smooth ridges, smaller than a small cantaloupe. I don't know if that's their real name or some marketing thing, but... there it is. Dec 21, 2007
bilby You hankerin' fer a guinness melon? Dec 21, 2007
sionnach Yeah, the champagne melon stand is right up there next to the pademelon booth. Dec 21, 2007
bilby In Australia they sell something called a champagne melon which is like a watermelon with a pale yellow colour. Tastes quite yellow. Dec 21, 2007
bilby Couple of Tagalog words for you: upo's a kind of calabash, kundol is a long gourd I think. Dec 20, 2007
mollusque Thanks, Bilby! (Momordica is a genus name, for those who might be wondering). Dec 19, 2007
bilby I saw things called galia melons from Brazil in the supermarket yesterday. Probably fruit.
There's also bitter gourd or bitter melon, same momordica I think; apparently cerasse in Jamaica but reggae gives me a headache. Dec 19, 2007
mollusque Glad you like it! When I found cocozelle yesterday, I was immediately diverted to gourds and melons. I suspect more are lurking, probably in Asian markets. Dec 19, 2007
skipvia Cast off the shoes! Follow the gourd! Dec 18, 2007
reesetee Oooh...very nice! Dec 18, 2007
chained_bear Love it! Great list title too! Dec 18, 2007
