chained_bear Nah, it's fine. Better to keep them together than have one orphaned. Apr 7, 2009
reesetee C_b, I added calèche (with accent) even though caleche (without accent) is already listed. Feel free to ditch it if you don't want duplicates. :-) Apr 7, 2009
sionnach I just love the name Wookie Hole. Nov 14, 2008
reesetee I love that sign! I must have one. Nov 14, 2008
chained_bear Thanks, I added them all, plus bilby's jinker (which sounds like a personal problem). I worry about dog-cart being thought to be a cart pulled by dogs. Because such things did exist--I am reminded of the ammunition cards pulled by Bouviers des Flandres during World War I, but I know there were others.... Nov 14, 2008
sionnach In the chapter on carriages in his book "Gallimaufry", Michael Quinion mentions:
the dog-cart, a two-wheeler with open seats placed back to back across the body of the vehicle, given that name because at one time it incorporated a box under the seat for sportsmens' dogs,
the wagonette, a larger four-wheeled cart with a seat or bench at each side facing inwards,
the governess-cart, a light two-wheeled vehicle with seats face to face at the sides, and
the charabanc (from French char-à-banc, literally "carriage with benches"), a long open vehicle with transverse seats looking forward.

chained_bear These are all horse-drawn vehicles, correct? Thanks, bilby! Oct 22, 2008
bilby There's also the Indonesian delman and its cognate in Javanese, andong. Scroll down a bit on this page for pic and description. Oct 22, 2008
