  • hernesheir Many of the names seem too fanciful to believe, which is why they ended up on this list. All names to date (9/17/2009) are recorded in Richard P. Wunderlin's Guide to the Vascular Plants of Florida, University Press of Florida. 1998. 806 pp. This book is the standard taxonomic treatment for the state of Florida.

    Many of the words herein are mashups of two words, or otherwise hyphenated words. For the most part, I've preserved the spelling (sans spaces or hyphens between two or more words) that was recorded in the source, and thus am preserving that author's conventions or editorial choices.
