not long, it's like lightning.. I saw the tendrils come down a bit with alternating red blue flashes reflecting in the clouds just like police car lights.. then it happened again but even bigger.. and then I saw the giant ring of red reflecting through the clouds just like the picture. I thought it was a UFO like in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I got on the net (this was in 1995) and found some edu sites talking about this phenomenon but some people thought it was fiction. I assure you, it is quite real!
I've seen alternating Red Sprites and Blue Jets up inside a giant supercell twice during the same storm in the middle of Oklahoma where they have the most massive storms ever. It was a phenomenal experience .. at the time I thought it was a giant UFO!

I can adapt. wordie (the name at least) did have a nice innocence to it. that I do miss. Otherwise, I have faith in wordnik based on the technology they are putting into it with the API and all.

Well, I know I'm straight and I KNOW I didn't 'choose' that at all. It's just me. My gay friends say the exact same thing about their sexual orientation, so that's what I'm basing my logic from. I've had many gay friends in my life too that say the exact same thing! So, honestly I don't know myself, but I do trust what my friends told me as being the truth, they had no reason to lie about it.
Oh, I almost forgot.. the most important thing that made me believe them was that they all pretty much said that they wished they weren't gay! Some of them had terrible times and were disowned by their own families! Why would someone choose that? They all pretty much expressed a longing to be straight! So it's not only believable, but rather humbling to be honest if you ever become friends enough to have this conversation.
Yes there are the rare cases where people are both! I didn't used to believe that, but now I do. Even as your friend experienced a change later in life, it does happen! But these traits were in her, and gay women have a different dynamic than gay men and thus different reasons for being simply 'the way they are'. It takes all types to make the world go round. Regarding homosexuality, anyone who condemns it is more than likely ignorant to the fact that homosexuality is inherent to a person's personality from birth. They still think a person can be 'cured' and that they are choosing to be homosexual, which is really unfortunate! Thankfully this way of thinking has changed drastically over the past 10-15 years thanks to more openness about the subject and better communication methods like the internet!
I have to totally disagree with your interpretation of this being homosexual in nature. You're talking about oral and anal sex (I'm assuming) and if that's the case, straight people do that just as much as gay men (or women for that matter). So I don't think it's offensive in that manner. IMO.

This was a conspiracy that was propogated by Zim's Leaders on his home planet as a practical joke on him. He was supposed to go to Earth to Invade our planet, but really his race has no interest in our planet and just sent him here to play a joke on him. Zim doesn't know this and thinks his mission is still important.
Gir is Insane. He has become somewhat of a cult internet sensation amongst younger people who used to watch him religiously until the show was abruptly cancelled due to creative differences with the creator Jhonen Vasquez. Sadly , the show hasn't resurfaced yet but some have been trying to revive it to for many years now. There's even a robotics group dedicated to building a real life version of Gir called 'Project: GIR'.
Cheesy Japanese 'Dude in a Rubber Suit' at it's best. Even Godzilla can't top Jaianto Robo in the camp department. john, there are methods to avoid this double click by temporarily disabling the button after it's clicked once. Even works with validators server side.

I had that bug couple of times but it's a result of double clicking the button quickly (i have a spazoid finger sometimes). I use chrome latest dev build. Other less secure browsers (IE) may have some injection going on or other click related bug?

not long, it's like lightning.. I saw the tendrils come down a bit with alternating red blue flashes reflecting in the clouds just like police car lights.. then it happened again but even bigger.. and then I saw the giant ring of red reflecting through the clouds just like the picture. I thought it was a UFO like in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I got on the net (this was in 1995) and found some edu sites talking about this phenomenon but some people thought it was fiction. I assure you, it is quite real!

Well, I know I'm straight and I KNOW I didn't 'choose' that at all. It's just me. My gay friends say the exact same thing about their sexual orientation, so that's what I'm basing my logic from. I've had many gay friends in my life too that say the exact same thing! So, honestly I don't know myself, but I do trust what my friends told me as being the truth, they had no reason to lie about it.
Oh, I almost forgot.. the most important thing that made me believe them was that they all pretty much said that they wished they weren't gay! Some of them had terrible times and were disowned by their own families! Why would someone choose that? They all pretty much expressed a longing to be straight! So it's not only believable, but rather humbling to be honest if you ever become friends enough to have this conversation.

Yes there are the rare cases where people are both! I didn't used to believe that, but now I do. Even as your friend experienced a change later in life, it does happen! But these traits were in her, and gay women have a different dynamic than gay men and thus different reasons for being simply 'the way they are'. It takes all types to make the world go round. Just like we have different physical traits, same goes for psychological! IMO. :)

Regarding homosexuality, anyone who condemns it is more than likely ignorant to the fact that homosexuality is inherent to a person's personality from birth. They still think a person can be 'cured' and that they are choosing to be homosexual, which is really unfortunate! Thankfully this way of thinking has changed drastically over the past 10-15 years thanks to more openness about the subject and better communication methods like the internet!

Incidentally I'm always correcting people on the misusage of the term 'gay' which has ironically taken a negative connotation in our society even though the current trends are very accepting of homosexuality and the original meaning of the word is to be 'cheerful'. Gir is a fictitious animated robot. He is the costar of the immensely popular cartoon series 'Invader Zim' on Nickelodeon which used to kick off the 'Nick at Nite' portion of the channel starting at 6PM. He is the assistant to Zim (an alien) and is often causing mayhem rather than actually helping. This was a conspiracy that was propogated by Zim's Leaders on his home planet as a practical joke on him. He was supposed to go to Earth to Invade our planet, but really his race has no interest in our planet and just sent him here to play a joke on him. Zim doesn't know this and thinks his mission is still important.
Gir is Insane. He has become somewhat of a cult internet sensation amongst younger people who used to watch him religiously until the show was abruptly cancelled due to creative differences with the creator Jhonen Vasquez. Sadly , the show hasn't resurfaced yet but some have been trying to revive it to for many years now. There's even a robotics group dedicated to building a real life version of Gir called 'Project: GIR'.

john, there are methods to avoid this double click by temporarily disabling the button after it's clicked once. Even works with validators server side.

I had that bug couple of times but it's a result of double clicking the button quickly (i have a spazoid finger sometimes). I use chrome latest dev build. Other less secure browsers (IE) may have some injection going on or other click related bug?
pollyanna, try another browser or reboot clear cache, all that jazz.

i was on the fence on lion, i know it has 2 syllables technically,
but you could kinda run it together and pronounce it more like 'line' if you wanted kinda like squirrel..

I'm already seeing people ADDING ALL CAPS IN THE LIST. That to me says 'CHEESY SITE'. One of the reasons I liked wordie was the fact that it changed forced lowercase to avoid that kind of crap. I thought that was very smart. now I'm like *yikes*!

Oh wow, BUG just found. I'm sure you know about it John, but I added 'Heuristic' noticed only I had listed it which seemed odd.. and then 'heuristic' which was listed 50 times. So if I add heuristiC it will probably add another entry. So, turn case sensitivity off in db entries QUICK!!!
