retorick A word designating the eighth power of a number has a place here, I ween. All together, now: zenzizenzizenzic. Apr 19, 2013
reesetee Thanks, milos! Sorry it took so long to respond to your post. :-) Mar 1, 2012
milosrdenstvi Check 'em out. Jan 6, 2012
reesetee Dongle added! H, fossple is already listed. :-) Dec 7, 2011
hernesheir fossple Jun 1, 2011
blafferty How about dongle?
(favorited) May 26, 2011
hernesheir aws or awes - the buckets or projections on the rim of a mill-wheel that receive the shock of water as it falls - Scots term cited in Dr. Jamieson's Scottish Dictionary and Supplement, 1841. May 26, 2011
reesetee Ooh, nice! Thanks! May 25, 2011
bilby beghilos. See comment on the examples. There's a beghilos tag too that someone has been using with the right kind of numbers. May 25, 2011
reesetee Wow, those are great ones! Thanks, PossU. Apr 14, 2011
PossibleUnderscore How about brills?
Edit: and staupings- the footprints of a cow or horse. Apr 13, 2011
reesetee Thanks, ruzuzu. Wordplayer, ogonek is already listed, and I'll leave hawsehole to the nautical lists of my fellow Wordnikies. But thanks for the rest! Jan 7, 2011
ruzuzu Oh! I just found lytta. Jan 5, 2011
Wordplayer How did I not find this list...
Anyway, here are some I stumbled upon:
nikhedonia, hawsehole, snast, pungi, dewlap, glossarium, and ogonek Jan 5, 2011
madmouth copremesis, hoping no one ever experiences it firsthand 0.0 Aug 26, 2010
thesaraheffect it's a tad middle-school-boy but wenis Sep 26, 2009
thesaraheffect I agree with Prolagus that hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia belongs on this list as does paraskavedekatriaphobia. At least that was my thought when I first stumbled upon the word. (How does one "stumble" upon such a word?) Sep 26, 2009
reesetee I'd say that qualifies. Also looks as though I missed kissingcrust. Added, thanks. :-) Jun 18, 2009
madmouth diasyrm isn't quite an 'it', but it's mentionable Jun 18, 2009
madmouth apparently kissingcrust is "the portion of the upper crust of a loaf which has touched another loaf in baking" (source). I definitely did an IHAN?! doubletake. May 8, 2009
reesetee Good one! Thanks! Apr 30, 2009
madmouth geosmin! Apr 30, 2009
reesetee Wow! What a list! All the cartoon-y ones are on another list of mine. Cere I know by heart, being a birdy sort of person, and a few others seem fairly well known. Punt, obdormition, paresthesia, and pandiculation are already listed. You will never, ever find me listing anything that has to do with the erstwhile senator of PA, ever! (Don't ask.) And the sheep's butt one is just too much. But the rest I'll put on the list. :-)
Thanks, Yaybob! Dec 12, 2008

reesetee Excellent! Sep 1, 2008

;-) Apr 14, 2008
Prolagus Valituskuoro! Valituskuoro! Apr 12, 2008
reesetee Pre-skelf splinters. Hmm.... Apr 9, 2008
trivet The house I grew up in was full of free range splinters lurking where one least expected. Do they have a special name, too? Or are they just plain old pre-skelf splinters? Apr 9, 2008
reesetee No kidding? Thanks, frindley! I had no idea there were so many specific types of splinters. :-) Also, I found that the word has another definition, somewhat related, I think: "A small or slight person; one who is a nuisance." Heehee. Apr 9, 2008
bilby Sorry, if that sounds as sleazy as it does now I think about it, my sincere apologies. Apr 9, 2008
bilby I'll kiss it better anyway, frindley. Apr 9, 2008
frindley skelf (courtesy OED WOTD): A sliver or splinter, usu. of wood, esp. one lodged in the skin.
To be honest, I would have called that a splinter, although I see some point in it being a splinter that has lodged in the skin, as opposed to a free-range or recently removed splinter. Apr 9, 2008
reesetee You're welcome! Apr 8, 2008
ofravens How on earth could I have forgotten about petrichor until just now? Jeez. Thanks for reminding me of it! Apr 8, 2008

reesetee Nice one, Prolagus--thanks! Mar 26, 2008
Prolagus What about Lagerstätte? Mar 26, 2008
reesetee And I humbly accept. :-) Mar 11, 2008
chained_bear I humbly propose fother. Mar 11, 2008
reesetee Already added, but with the "philtrum" spelling. It was actually one of the words that inspired the list. Feb 25, 2008
jtfmulder filtrum is another that could be added to the list. It is one of the first things that I think of when someone says "It Has a Name??" Feb 25, 2008
Prolagus You should add hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia :-) Feb 6, 2008
reesetee Thanks, herotuesday! Still adding to this one. :-) Sep 24, 2007
herotuesday An amazing list!
Many words pinched :). Sep 24, 2007
reesetee Thanks, sionnach! And thanks to you too, madandcrazy. I'm having fun with this one, all right. :-) Mar 6, 2007
sionnach pilcrow, the symbol used to denote a new paragraph?
jentacular, pertaining to breakfast? Mar 6, 2007
reesetee They mean the same thing, yes, but I prefer the "semi" version myself. :-) Feb 24, 2007
sionnach Shouldn't that be quasihemidemisemiquaver? :) Feb 24, 2007
