  • seanahan Thanks nearsounds. In the early days, there was quite a competition to have the "most words". I never thought that was a good idea. These are my words because they mean something to me. Words are like friends. You can have a lot of them, but you only have a few good ones you are really close to. May 27, 2010

  • reesetee I agree on all counts. For me, there really *are* many thousands of words that have significance to me or that somehow fill out a list. Many of them, for example, are words that I associate with people I've known--when you take that into account, how many thousands more are possible? :-)

    It's also interesting to find out why people add words here. Some pick out the "jewels," some like to make comprehensive lists....To each his own--that's the beauty of Wordie! Feb 20, 2007

  • chained_bear I thought the same thing when I took my first hit of Wordie. But now I'm hooked, and 3000 isn't enough.

    Actually, in all seriousness, I try to be careful about adding words and prefer to "favorite" people's lists rather than add more than, say, 5% of their words to one of my lists. On the other hand, I'm not just adding words, I'm categorizing the entire English language. I've taken this project on myself for the good of the world and the salvation of other Wordies.
